We recently started a "Good News" Newspaper in Vancouver to help society focus on and acknowledge all the GOOD things in life, the community & the world, instead off being bombarded by all the other negative news publications that just focus on the BAD things happening in your life, your community and your world.
Our Goal is simple: to change the world, one reader at a time, while making a positive contribution to the conciousness of society to educate, empower and imporve the quality of life for the masses.
You can check out or other edition's / articles and writers at http://www.elatednews.com
Or you can find our stylish stands and papers in over 300 locations all over Vancouver.
This article below is my first article for the paper called "Quinton's Corner"
I hope you enjoy it :)
"CNN = Constant Negative News... "
DISCLAIMER: Just as my business / life coach John tells me every week, I will tell you: "if I say something that offends you...you'll get over it." So with that out of the way, on with the show my friends:
Three years ago I started a 90 day media fast as a challenge from a Personal Development Program I was doing.
No news (or newspapers), no TV and most importantly no celebrity gossip magazines for 3 months!
How would I ever survive without knowing which nightclub Paris Hilton stumbled out of last night?
After those 90 days past, just like a recovered substance abuser (FYI: which I am not), I never picked up the TV remote, or newspaper, ever again.
Since this is my debut article for the 'Good News' publication we call 'Elated News', I thought I should get some insight and do some background research on what the "REAL world" news is publishing to see what I have been missing out on.
Here's the 'breaking news' that I found:
The 24 Hour paper seems to have all the reports on celebrity gossip 'name calling' covered.
One article headline that caught my eye was "Obama calls Kayne West a Jackass". I definitely could not have started my day off the right way if I did not hear the President trash talking a rapper. Sometimes I am soooo glad to be a Canadian!
The Vancouver Province was doing a great job pumping out bold, fear based brainwashing paranoia poison with headlines like:
"Two men found in pools of blood" hmmm yummy! A deliciously mouth watering way to start my day.
For some reason I am no longer hungry. Here is another good one, "Samurai sword used to kill burglar" wait it gets better, "Bullet Holes Found in Elementary school". Talk about empowering the people!
I have to admit that I like the The Georgia Straight and I can't diss it...but...the last 5 pages of the Straight makes me feel very, very dirty, like I am in a Las Vegas seedy hotel club with all those pictures naked woman plastered on top of each other in the back of the paper. Come on Gorgia, let's class it up! You can get quality advertising dollars elsewhere, can't you?
Now, the worst of the worst: CNN! = Constant Negative News.
I had to go to my friends place to watch the news (I don't have, or want, cable TV) all I can say is "wholly crap!" After 15 minutes, I wanted to crawl into bed & hide under the covers in the fetal position...for the rest of my life!
I'm curious, can CNN have any more fear based, toxic propaganda to negatively condition the collective mind of millions? I have studied NLP (Neuro Lingustic Programing) the underling messages that CNN are spewing out into societies conscious & subconscious minds are unbelievably destructive & disempowering. It literally makes me sick.
I told my friend to change the channel but all we could find was mindless commercials telling us to consume useless products after a plethorage of terrible reality TV shows. I wish I never knew that rapper Flava-Flave has his own reality dating show. Are you serious?!
*Unfortantly my friends, my media rant went a little long today (hey, I had three years of negative news to catch up on). So stay tuned for the next Elated Edition to learn how you can delete the bombardment of negative news and how you can start ACTING & FEELING more optimistic, postive & happy by starting your day the empowered, Elated way.
