"If its not fun...I don't wanna do it" has pretty much been my motto mantra my whole life. That's also why I never did well working as an employee...because most jobs suck. Right?
My question to you is: "can business / working be fun?"
Well, I believe yes...and...no & I will tell you why.
I have been blessed to have had some AWESOME Jobs & Businesses Ventures....
I have also been cursed with some real crappy ones too: like working as a dishwasher for 2 weeks at Pizza Hut when I was in college, after I quit I never ate at Pizza Hut again. Telemarketing, enough said. I also got paid straight commission to stand around all day selling ice cream on some street corner in Montreal, I ate most of the ice cream myself & lost money on that gig :(
My fist online business venture bombed after spending $3,000 (from my student loan) on 3 website templates that I could not build or convert into sales...later I found out you can get money making website templates made for like 50 bucks...live & learn.
Anyway, back to the good stuff...
My first job when I moved to Vancouver 4 years ago I was a Talent Agent.
For some reason I was given my own HUGE office downtown Vancouver were I interviewed, photographed & booked actors and models to various productions.
Good times:) I was basically Ari from Entourage...without the intense attitude & suites. Haha.
Then I got on board as the team leader for a promotional modeling company were I got paid to go out to bars, clubs & special local events leading a team of 5 promo modeling girls out to all the events...so basically I got paid to party with really pretty people ;)
Not bad.
But the best of the best was getting hired as Canada's only Summer Surf Camp Director through Inner Rhythm Surf Shop. The Pacific Ocean became my office and my wetsuit become my everyday 'suite'. It blew my mind that I actually got PAID to do the thing I loved more than anything else on this planet...surf.
This is also where I started my own first business, "Surfveza".
I took college students to surf safaris to Tofino, Vancouver Island and also down to Mexico.
Surf + Cerveza = Surfveza...get it?
And with that: "Surfveza Sessions" was born!
I still remember sitting on the beach in Mazatlan after a sunset surf, sipping on a Corona, surrounded by like 30 of my college peers that I organized this surf trip for and being like, "WOW, I actually got a free trip to Mexico AND made $ setting this 'Surfveza thing' up...Business CAN be FUN?!?"
Then it hit me:
Employees WORK for $.
Entrepreneurs MAKE & CREATE $.
After I got back from Mexico, I stopped attending & paying for my 'formal' education. I dropped out of the 'unfun' college program I was studying and started studying REAL business & marketing (information which I had NEVER, EVER taken any formal courses or read books about) until after I found the Home Based Business Network Marketing Professional Entrepreneur Industry = The Ultimate FUN Business.
I was HOOKED!
I pretty much immersed myself in every book, program, course, workshop and conference I could find to attend...and to be completely honest, I have not really grown my business THAT much since getting started...but I have grown my self & my mind ten fold because I am looking at business building as a LONG term career.
So now after 2 years of incredible growth, personal development, extreme highs & lows of REAL life education, I am starting a new business endeavor (on top of my Home Biz of course) creating Vancouver's ONLY "Spa Bar-Pool Parties & Events" called "Surfveza Sessions"
Check out new website and get on our V.I.P. List.

This has been another fun new project for me!
Surfveza Sessions is all about giving back and creating a great venue & experience for people to come and enjoy themselves while treating themselves to what we call a "staycation" (staying close to home but still feel like you are on vacation) instead of having to take an actual "vacation" to chill out and relax :)
People can come to one of our epic events that is hosted by myself and a friend of mine Kita Forever anytime they want. Just get on our Invite List at www.mysticalvibrationsmusic.com/surfveza.html
Surfveza Sessions provides Vancouver's social scene with live DJ's, a full bar and a full pool full of the cities hippest & hottest guys & girls from all ages & backgrounds.
At our events you will find a mix of our inner circle party promoter entourage, local social scensters, some local entrepreneurs / business owners, yoga teachers, actors / models / musicians, people in the service industry...and ANYONE else who wants to meet great people in a great place while enjoying a cerveza in the pool, hot tub or infrared sauna.
This is a brand new learning experience for my team and I and we are screwing up a ton & having a blast! Its awesome :P My goal is to have other Surfveza Sessions in other major cities. So keep an eye & ear open for a FUN business franchise opportunity tailor made for the right FUN person.
Could it be you?
My point in writing this article is that everything & anything can be cool & fun...and...anything & everything can also be boring & suck. It depends on how YOU choose to spend your time & days, thus equals how you spend your life. "All life is, is single moments strung together on a pearl necklace" as Success Coach Robin Sharma says.
I will be the first to admit, after awhile even the coolest & funnest things can get kind of old & boring (even partying with gorgeous models, surfing all day and sitting in a spa eventually gets routine if your doing it all the time! Trust me.)
So I believe its important to make & create new challenging goals and projects to work on just like the Japanese saying that used to by painted on my basketball team room wall says live in the "Spirit of Kiazan" that means cultivate constant growth and improvement throughout ones life...
What I have learned so far in this crazy thing called life is that its NOT about what you do, its about who you ARE BEING while you do it.
So ask yourself: are you being fun or boring doing what ever it is that you do? Looking back, it was pretty freaking fun sitting on a corner eating tons of ice cream listening to live Jazz at Montreal's Jazz Fest...come to think of it, that was a GREAT summer job :)
I would REALLY love to hear what your best (or worst) job or business venture was or is, so go ahead and leave a comment below...
Hope to see YOU poolside at one of our next Surfveza Sessions
